This hasn't been a great year for horror movies, but with more and more promising genre films being scheduled for the final months of 2014, it has the potential to end on a huge bang. The latest to receive firm fall release dates are two of the most intriguing of the season: Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead and Open Windows.

Dead Snow 2 is the eagerly anticipated sequel to the Nazi zombie cult fave Dead Snow whose newly released poster and tagline ("The sequel you did Nazi coming") give an indication of the dark humor contained therein.

It receives a limited theatrical release staring on October 10.

Open Windows, meanwhile, is a thriller from Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes) that's the second film starring Elijah Wood in as many years that's shot from an unusual point of view. Whereas Maniac was told through his eyes, Open Windows is told through his computer screen as he spies on his favorite actress (played by Sasha Grey) without her knowing. What a lovable creep.
