Short-sighted or myopia effects on vision are usually caused by bad habits we pick up when we are young.
Constant reading, writing and concentrating restricts our eyes natural instinct to remain moving and active.
When we are forced to learn about information that we find mostly boring it causes our minds to get tired and consequently our eyes feel strained.
Staring and straining our eyes are the most damaging things we can do to them and can result in long term ailments such as myopia, astigmatism or presbyopia.
Myopia is basically an elongation of the eyeball which creates a difficulty in seeing the appropriate distance when we are looking at an object.
It is usually possible to see objects close up but the problem is when you try to focus on objects far away, hence the name short sightedness.
Fortunately, myopia reversal is quite possible with eye exercises designed to retrain our eyes to relax and to strengthen the muscles which allow them to naturally elongate and contract as is necessary to focus on objects at various distances away.
One exercise which helps relax our eyes and combat myopia effects on vision is called the Bates method, named after a renowned ophthalmology researcher named Dr.
William Bates who created a chart of familiar shapes and letters which allows our eyes to take a break from school or work by focusing on the chart for a couple of minutes whenever our minds become overwhelmed by whatever we're doing.
When our eyes are looking at familiar shapes they do not strain and so looking at the chart for 2 or 3 minutes during the day will allow them to relax.
We can create such a chart ourselves and put it up at school or work.
