Understanding Breast Implant Incisions

101 2
Breast augmentation has quickly become one of the most popular cosmetic procedures performed today. In response to its growing popularity, a number of medical advances have been made which are designed to improve various aspects of the surgery. One of these aspects lies within the different types of incisions that can be pursued with Scottsdale breast augmentation. Of course, meeting with your surgeon is the best way to determine which incision type will work best for you – the decision is largely based on factors like the skill and training of your doctor, the implant type you are considering, and your individual body type. However, it's worthwhile to understand what types of incisions are available to you. With this in mind, let's take a quick look at the different types of breast implant incisions.

Inframammary

This type of incision is made near the crease under the breasts, above where the breast meets the rib cage. A pocket is made during the surgery in which to place the breast implant, which is then slid upward through the incision and centered behind the nipple. Other Scottsdale breast augmentationincision types bring with them risk of scarring, but this incision type is a great way to reduce the chance that you'll have to deal with a visible scar.

Periareolar

The periareolar incision is placed along the outside of the areola (the brown/pink region surrounding the nipple). Benefits to this incision are that the breast can be more accurately molded into a more natural-looking shape and there generally is no visible scar. Plus, your surgeon will be able to achieve complete control of any bleeding throughout your Scottsdale breast augmentation.

 Transaxillary

A transaxillary incision is placed in the natural folds of the armpit skin, allowing the surgeon o create a channel up to the breast. The implant is then inserted and moved through the channel until the surgeon positions it behind the nipple. A big advantage to this incision type is that the scar is not anywhere on the breast.

TUBA

This incision is considered the "scarless" type because it is made on the rim of the navel. A tunnel is made from the navel through to the breast tissue, creating a pocket through which the surgeon can insert the implant. Like transaxillary Scottsdale breast augmentation incisions, it creates no scars on the breast itself and the incision is generally well-hidden by the natural folds of the navel.
