Newspaper, periodical and book publishers paid the fourth highest mean annual rate of $70,650 and $34.12 per hour in 2010.

    • In the District of Columbia, literacy coordinators earned the highest yearly compensation of $79,300 and $38.12 in 2010. In Connecticut, they earned the second highest mean yearly pay of $75,790 and $36.44, while in California these professionals made the third highest at $70,010 and $33.66 per hour. In Minnesota, literacy coordinators earned the fourth highest mean yearly rate of $69,060 and $33.20 per hour. In fifth place was Virginia, where such professionals made the fifth highest salary, earning a mean yearly pay of $67,540 and $32.47 an hour in 2010.

    Pay by Large Urban Areas

    • In the Portsmouth region, serving New Hampshire and Maine, literacy coordinators earned the highest mean yearly rate of $93,480 and $44.94 per hour in 2010. In the Hartford, Conn. area, such professionals were paid the second highest mean yearly rate of $82,880 and an hourly rate of $39.84. Those working in Huntsville, Ala., earned the third highest mean yearly compensation at $82,640 and $39.73 per hour. Literacy coordinators in Salinas, Calif., earned the fourth highest mean annual rate of $82,320 and $39.36 in 2010.
