The drive boards the train as passengers sit on the roof for the scenic trip along a stretch of railway known as an engineering marvel.
Now only a tourist attraction, the train leaves Riobamba early in the morning for a six-hour return trip. Many of the travelers get off the train in Alausi to continue by bus to other destinations, but others ride thr train back for another view of the terrain that posed huge problems for the original engineers and laborers.
