Celebrations

• The celebrations for housekeepers' week last for seven days, which means you have plenty of time to celebrate it in different ways, every day. You can start by decorating the staff lounge and front desk with the help of other hotel staff. Choose a theme and decorate with balloons and painted banners with encouraging words of appreciation. Celebrate each day by focusing on different success-oriented characteristics such as cooperation, quality, teamwork, cheerful service and plan each day's games and activities accordingly.
  
  

Games

• To add fun to the celebrations, organize interactive games for your housekeeping staff. Arrange games such as pie-eating contest or watermelon-eating contest. You can also arrange competitions relevant to housekeeping staff's everyday chores such as folding the towels, making the bed and vacuuming the carpet in limited time. Other games may include solving word puzzles, badminton competition, softball, scrabble and cooking competitions. You may also award the winners with prizes such as a goodie basket carrying chocolates, candies and cookies.

• One way to show appreciation and gratitude to your housekeeping staff is to present them with personalized gifts at the end of week. Personalized gifts can include baskets carrying items such as personalized fountain pen, diary, T-shirt and mug. Another way to thank your housekeepers is to award them with a bonus along with thank you card that contains a personal message. For someone who has been the employee of the month frequently over the year, appreciate her efforts by presenting her with gifts such as candles, perfume or a piece of personalized jewelry such as a bracelet.

• Besides games, arrange different interactive activities during the week's celebrations. For instance, ask each member of the housekeeping department to write one phrase about other members of the team and read them out loud to everyone. Other activities can include an outdoor bonfire night with barbecue, karaoke, dance activities and perhaps a concert. You can also arrange a hike trip, picnic to a nearby destination or a grand luncheon at the hotel for the recreation of the housekeeping staff.
