Nothing beats a nice candle in setting the mood and ambiance of any space. Beyond aesthetics, it became a versatile product that adds style to any setting and bring about relaxation to various forms of relaxation therapies. For instance, massage candles are helpful in bringing out and optimizing the therapeutic benefits of traditional massages. With the growing concern on the health impacts of using paraffin or petroleum-based candles, soy candles were picked as the next best thing. The all-natural components of soy candles are ideal complements for massage therapies because of their heat and aromatic qualities. The benefits of massage candles have long been established. This resulted to the wide use of candles on various techniques of therapeutic, rehabilitative and relaxing massages. Given the innovations presented by soy candles in the candle making industry, massage soy candles only listed more benefits under its belt.

Given the number of spa houses that use scented massage candles every session, the use of paraffin candles on these practices poses significant contributions to the level of pollution already present in the atmosphere. Thankfully, natural wax candles were created to gradually reduce the demand for toxic paraffin candles. Beeswax candles were the first natural wax candles to be introduced as alternative to petroleum-based candles. Just like other eco-friendly products, the cost of relying and using beeswax were quite outrageous that many spa houses opted to return to using paraffin. This move only emphasized the need for more sustainable and cheaper natural candle wax sources. Then, in 1997, Michael Richards introduced soy wax as the cost-effective and more affordable natural wax candles. Soy candles are clean burning and longer lasting candles.

Since they are made from natural hydrogenated and saturated fats, they exhibit lower melting points. This quality actually makes them more effective in dispersing the therapeutic essences and fragrances of healing oils, which are commonly added to massage candles. Given its lower melting point, these candles tend to form larger pools of melted wax around its burning wicks. This then effectively heats up the fragrant oil essence and disperses them more evenly and effectively in the air. Compared to the usual paraffin candles, these candles do not produce toxic substances and carcinogenic chemicals. It simply preserves the healing fragrances of natural essential oils, from which the benefits of massage oils were founded on. Spa houses grew concern about the toxicity and harmful substances of soot and gases produced by scented paraffin waxes. They even went to the extent of doing their own research and verification on whether or not their paraffin candles use cosmetic grade ingredients to ensure safe use.

As derived from natural soy wax, soy candles presented a complex blend of natural wax that is readily safe for therapeutic use, as in massages. Aside from not releasing harmful toxins into the air, the cosmetic grade soy wax in natural massage candles are more agreeable to be used on human skin, delivering its natural skin moisturizing and healing properties with near zero risk for irritation or adverse health reactions. In this light, soy candles do not only enhance the benefits of therapeutic massages. They promote natural and potent means of relaxation and healing that care enough in preserving both the human health and the environment.
