Insulation is most widely used method of increasing the home efficiency. It is one of the best and most effective ways of reducing electricity bills. Incorporatinghome insulation will not only reduce the heating and the cooling costs, but will also help in making the home energy efficient, by lowering energy loss. Majority of the energy being consumed by the house is for maintaining optimum temperature and keeping the house warm or cool depending upon the temperature prevailing outside. By installing proper home insulation, the inflow and outflow of heat can be properly managed, which otherwise is not possible.

The primary reason behind more power consumption is that the house tends to loose more than 40% of the heat through the walls, ceilings or floors. Hence, more power is consumed in order to maintain optimum temperature within the house. Several measures are being incorporated by people these days in order to provide complete home insulation solutions. Conserving energy through an eco-friendly way is most the preferred way of providing insulation to the place.

Cellulose insulationis one of the eco-friendly insulation option available and is being rapidly used by people nowadays. Since it is eco-friendly and does not cause any harm to the environment, it is also referred to as green insulation. The green insulation is done with the help of the recycled materials such as cardboard, cellulose, paperboard, newsprint or other waste products. These materials are later chemically treated to provide resistance against fire and insects. Moreover, cellulose insulation, a green insulation option, helps in reduction of carbon footprints and thus makes a significant contribution towards environment. In addition, it also has acoustical properties and is an excellent air sealer.

Besides cellulose insulation, there are other types of home insulation that increases home efficiency. Homeowners can choose amongst blown in insulation, foam board, batt, concrete blocks and various others. The difference in the insulation types is due to the different material that is being used in it. Various materials that are being used are cellulose, fiberglass, polystyrene or mineral. One can thus choose from the options available that is best suited to their needs and budget.
