There is no doubt that a leaner, and healthier life means longevity, but how does one get to the point of becoming a leaner and healthier person? The answer lies in exercise.
Our bodies are evolved for constant physical activity so people must find ways to keep it part of their lives in the modern world.
Exercise is a great help in combating obesity by burning off calories, and it helps keep different chronic disorders at bay at the same time.
It is suggested by medical experts the world over to find some enjoyable physical activity and make it a part of daily life.
In other words, work it into your routine until it becomes as habitual as sleeping and eating.
To varying degrees, health will follow automatically.
Exercise is beneficial even in small amounts.
There is no age limit for exercise; however, the intensity of exercise has to be monitored at all ages.
Make the most of exercise while still young or at least younger than you will be in the future! Many professionals say exercise while still young has added benefits in old age.
Working out for at least an hour a day and working up a slight sweat is recommended.
Daily exercise may sound monotonous to some, but it is not necessary to set an hour aside for physical exercise.
Just doing bursts of physical activity during the day like gardening, walking to the store, cycling, house cleaning (such as moving boxes etc.
) can amount to an hour of exercise each day.
When it comes to weight loss, physical activity is very essential though the amount one eats is of course paramount.
Counter-intuitively, exercise can actually help reduce appetite.
Heart disease is the biggest killer in the US, and exercise also helps improve health conditions related to heart disease.
Exercise will lower blood pressure and strengthen heart muscles while preventing blockages of arteries by reducing the bad cholesterol (LDL) and increasing good cholesterol (HDL).
Exercise also helps in prevention of Type 2 diabetes.
This is a disorder that is increasing at an alarming rate all over the world.
Records show that Type 2 diabetes has increased by 62 percent since 1990 (around the time computers took over a lot of the physical activates of people).
With sitting in front of computers and other sedentary activities taking more time of the day, people are increasingly leading sedentary lifestyles.
This lack of exercise is leading to a lot of health issues.
So, in the ultimate analysis, it is important to understand that an hour or so of daily exercise or other physical activity needs to be a part our daily routines if we want to lead healthy and happy lives.
