I Think Of The Garmin nuvi 40 As My Relationship Saver
I'll admit it, I have a horrible sense of direction and so I alsways travel with my Garmin nuvi 40! The fact is my spouse has a far better sense of direction than me! But even having a fantastic sense of direction, it's also crucial for us to have a good GPS nav system with us whenever we take a road trip.
Let's face it, a good sense of direction won't inform you about brand new highways which have been constructed since your current map had been printed, it cannot tell you when to switch lanes intended for an upcoming exit, it won't offer you distance warning regarding the next turn, it will not tell you about the more than 8 million points of interest!
The remarkable thing to me is just how quickly I came to depend on "Lucy" as she started to be known, for so much of our travel info.
And quite honestly, I don't like to go anywhere without her now.
And concerning the Lucy name, it's simply that the female voice on this Garmin nuvi 40 reminded my spouse of someone she knew in school. Thus the nickname. Goes with our truck "Mike" that our grand son named. Why? I couldnt tell you! However it is cute and it stuck.
But back to "Lucy" and all the services she provides!
Certainly, there are a lot of features which come bundled with this GPS device. However for me there are a few central elements which help to make this an extremely beneficial driving aid.
To start with is the Lifetime Maps.
You get to up-date the product 4 times annually. And this proves to be invaluable, even in my hometown. Naturally there tend to be parts of city that I do not get to often. And there has been loads of fresh street development during the previous five years. In fact that road construction has been going on far longer, but the economy here is booming so lots of brand new roads have been, and continue to be, built.
Without having the Lifetime Maps, the GPS system would rapidly become obsolete. This keeps it up-to-date and that is crucial. Especially because we enjoy our road trips and are regularly in totally brand new territory and truly need the directions the nuvi 40 provides.
I also like to refer to Lucy as the relationship saver. I don't know about you, however, whenever my loved one is navigating and informs me about a turn too late - either because there's too much traffic to try to make the lane change or it's simply too late to do it - that can induce a great deal of tension any time you are in a totally unknown area of a town you have certainly never traveled in previously! A different instruction I get is "turn now" but absolutely no direction! And did I tell you she has difficulty with left and right? East and west, no problem, but that won't assist me!
So getting a very good, dependable GPS navigation system takes a good deal of stress off the marriage!
Something else this unit does is to monitor all your travel information including your miles, trip time, average pace, etc. This is great for a lengthy vacation and planning your progress. It's also awesome for trying to keep track of company gas mileage.
There certainly are a large number of features crammed directly into this little device. I really like this and cannot conceive of taking a journey without it!
And if you have ever been lost within a unknown city or questioned what lane to get in for an upcoming turn or wanted to know about a few significant points of interest, the Garmin nuvi 40 is the unit for you!
