Scope of Project

• A good RFP will explicitly detail the scope of the project. This might include what needs to be done, the purpose of the project, anticipated drawbacks and roadblocks and the end result. It should tell bidders the origins of the project and expectations for it by the issuing agency, as well as a budgetary scope that includes all financial aspects of the project.
  
  

Background Information

• The issuing company should provide background information on its operations and employees working on the project in a section of the RFP. It should detail similar projects and results completed through the company both on an individual level and with other organizations. The RFP should provide key information on the point of contact for the project, be it an individual or agency, and corresponding experience and qualifications.
  
  

Timeline

• All good RFPs should indicate some kind of timeline for the project, to give bidders a clear idea of the time commitment to which they are submitting. You can include the fact that the timeline is simply an estimate, and depending on any problems encountered during the project, the timeline may change. It should detail expectations for checkpoints throughout the timeline and how those checkpoints are expected to be observed.
  
  

Necessary Skills

• The RFP should indicate an expectation of the skills required of bidders. It should request resumes for key officers of bidding companies, as well as project experience, educational background and any other pertinent information important to project leaders. It should detail how this information should be submitted and in what format. There should also be a deadline for the submission of information and the method in which skills and experience should be submitted for consideration.
