The Value of Values in Outsourcing

Many people resist outsourcing because they believe "no one can do it as well as I can.
" Basically, "if you want the job done right, you gotta do it yourself," especially if your outsourcers will be interacting directly with your clients, as opposed to simply performing services for you and your business.
However, what these people don't realize is that getting the job done "well enough" is better than "not at all.
" And "not at all" is often what you get when you insist on doing everything yourself.
Outsourcing can be an ideal way for you to free up more of your own time to focus on doing those things that only you can do, while leveraging the time, talents, and resources of others to serve your clients exponentially better than you could on your own.
You can't be all things to all people, but you can build a team that consists of several different people with different specialties, so that you team as a whole CAN be all things to your clients and prospects.
As long as you have a cohesive brand, image, or set of values that your entire team adheres to, your clients are most likely not going to mind being served by a team of professionals as opposed to working with you exclusively, even if your team members aren't as highly skilled as you.
Again, getting the job done well enough - albeit not perfect - is preferable to not getting it done at all because you're holding out for perfection (which never comes).
The key is to ensure that your entire team acts as a single unit with a shared mission and vision.
You'll need to be sure that your team members share your values and priorities with regard to how they interact with your clients, and the information they provide.
This requires that you, yourself, be absolutely sure that you understand your own mission, vision, values and priorities.
Not many people take the time to get clear on these topics when starting their business, instead focusing on creating their products and services, and getting the word out in any way possible, while accepting as clients anyone who can pay the fee.
This can create a disjointed feeling to your business, and it doesn't just affect you.
It affects your clients as well, and can mean the difference between a prospect deciding to work with you or not.
If they don't know what you stand for and where you're going, they're not going to have much faith that you can help them with their problems.
Bring other team members into this environment and it only compounds the problem even further.
So take the time today to get clear on your own personal values, first of all.
Values are defined as a person's principles or standards of behavior; one's judgment of what is important in life.
Get out a piece of paper and write down your answers to the following: If you truly had the ultimate god-like power to manifest your thoughts, to will anything into being, in what manner would you go about exercising that power? Think about HOW you would use that power, not specifically WHAT actions you would take or WHY.
What code of conduct would you hold yourself to? What would you want all other beings on earth to know about how you intend to use this great gift? About how you lived your life? Think about the people you look up to, people who inspire you.
How do they live their lives? What code of conduct do they adhere to? How do they decide which activities to engage in or not? These are their values.
What are yours?
