- A 16-valve double overhead camshaft design, the 2.5-liter engine of the 2009 Ford Escape produces 171 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 171 foot-pounds of torque at 4,500 rpm. Additionally, it has a 3.5-inch-by-3.94-inch bore and stroke, and a 9.7-to-1 compression ratio.
- Ford installed a different engine in the top-level Limited trim of the 2009 Escape. A V-6 engine with a 24-valve DOHC design and 3-liter displacement, it produces 240 horsepower at 6,550 rpm and 223 lb. ft at 4,300 rpm. This engine has a cyclinder bore of 3.5 inches and a stroke of 3.13 inches, and the compression ratio is 10.3 to 1.
