Silicone Bakeware Cleaning Tips
- To thoroughly clean silicone bakeware, all you need are the basics: a sponge, dish soap and a clean towel. Of course, you also need a sink and some warm water.
- Plug the bottom of the sink and fill partway with warm water. Add a few drops of dishwashing liquid to the sink and continue filling with enough water to fully cover your silicone pan or baking mold. The water will be soapy and full of bubbles. Place the pan into the sink and allow it to soak for five to 10 minutes.
- Scrub the bakeware with a regular sponge; make sure to get every corner and crevice. Flip the bakeware inside out to really get into every area and scrub carefully. Wash off the pan with warm water and dry thoroughly with a clean, dry towel.
- Leaving silicone bakeware in soapy water for more than 10 minutes will cause the soap to absorb into the material, so don't let it surpass 10 minutes of soaking. To speed up the soaking process, take off any burnt pieces or cake residue resting on the pan before you place it in the warm water.
- The ideal time to clean your silicone bakeware is right after you have removed the cakes or muffins that were inside. The longer you allow the residue to sit on your bakeware, the harder it will be to remove.
