How to Become a Midwife in Queensland
- 1). Prepare for university. Complete your grade 12 high school education. Take grade 12 English in high school and a grade 12 course in either biology, physics or chemistry. Research the specific entry requirements for the Bachelor of Midwifery program at the Queensland university you plan to attend.
- 2). Apply for a Bachelor of Midwifery (BMid) at an accredited Queensland university. The Australian Catholic University and University of Queensland both offer a Bachelor of Midwifery program. Since university students work with patients in a clinical setting, you will need to show your CPR certificate, first aid certificate, a police certificate, proof of immunization, and requested health documentation upon program acceptance.
- 3). Complete the three-year Bachelor of Midwifery program. During this educational period gain as much hands-on experience as possible.
