How to Clean Your Glass Shower Door
- 1). How to Clean Your Shower Door
If you have a glass or faux glass shower door, you already know the nightmare of cleaning those hard water stains and soap scum from it. It can be a daunting task but definitely a necessary one. The disgusting build up on the shower door can make you cringe every time you get in the shower. For years I fought with trying to clean the soap scum and hard water stains from my glass shower door with just an all purpose cleanser and a plain cleaning towel or sponge with no luck at all. Then one day I read something about using steel wool to clean your shower door and it changed my life forever. No, not the hard, abrasive, shiny bronze steel wool known for scrubbing pots and pans, but the fine, non-abrasive ones that already come with their own soap. Most of us now them as s.o.s. pads. You can also use the generic brands of s.o.s. pads so long as it's fine and non-abrasive. This allows you to clean without harming or scratching the glass. I use them all the time and they work the same.
Clear Out Clutter
The first thing you want to do before you clean your shower door and shower is clear out all the clutter. This would include shampoos, conditioners, razors, etc. You want to make sure you don't get cleansers and cleaning agents all over these products that you will use again. You also want to make sure you get your bath/shower entirely clean. It's hard to do that when things are in your way. - 2

Wet Cleaning Pad Thoroughly
Make sure you wet the steel wool cleaning pad thoroughly. This will ensure that the soap lathers well and will make it that much easier to clean. - 3). Clean Shower Door
Take your lathered up steel wool pad and clean the shower door from top to bottom and side to side as well as all other glass in the shower. This will make sure that you get all or most of the dirt and stains. You may want to clean in sections at a time if you have a lot of glass to clean. This will make it easier to rinse. - 4). Rinse Shower Door
Once you've cleaned the door, rinse thoroughly. Make sure you rinse all of the cleanser off otherwise it will leave ugly streaks that will make the glass look dirty again. After rinsing, if you still see stains and dirt that you missed just clean those stains only until all the stains are gone. No need to keep cleaning the entire shower door. After your final rinse you should have a sparkling clean shower door. Until you dirty it up again!
Make a note to yourself to clean your shower door BEFORE you clean out the tub or shower because once you've rinsed the door all the cleaning agents along with dirt will rinse right back down into the shower or tub and it's dirty again.
