    • 1). Dig a hole around your existing sprinkler head that is approximately 1-foot deep with the shovel. Clear away any excess dirt that might be around the sprinkler head.

    • 2). Unscrew the existing sprinkler head using a counter-clockwise motion. You might need to use both hands if the sprinkler head is on tightly.

    • 3). Flush the sprinkler connection by running water through it (you can just turn on the sprinkler system briefly). This will clear away any dirt that might gotten into the connection and give you are clean connection to work with.

    • 4). Screw in your new sprinkler head using a clockwise motion. Make sure the new head is screwed on as tightly as possible.

    • 5). Slowly replace the dirt around the new sprinkler head with the trowel. Pack the dirt down around the sprinkler head.
