Eakin Cohesive Seals - The Little Ostomy Lifesaver

103 3
Eakin cohesive seals are arguably one of the most useful ostomy products available on the market today.
Let's examine how many Ostomates are using cohesive seals to enjoy better security and make stomas more manageable.
These clever little beige donuts aren't the "lifesavers" you're probably thinking of, but they certainly look similar.
And for an Ostomate, moldable Eakin seals provide some extra security and protection.
Ostomy supplies are numerous and chosen based on an individuals needs.
But an individuals stoma isn't "one size fits all".
Everyone's stoma is entirely unique in size, shape, and activity.
Because of this, it can be difficult to always have the right supplies at the right time for stomas, particularly the hard-to-manage stomas.
Eakin seals provide many benefits for an ostomate:
  • Leak Prevention - A Cohesive seal creates a barrier between the skin and the ostomy appliance.
This waterproof barrier helps prevent leaks that commonly form between an ostomy appliance and the skin.
  • Protects the Skin- Stopping leaks is key to preventing skin problems around the stoma.
Since Eakin seals stop these common leaks, it reduces skin irritation caused from stoma output.
  • Moldable for Any Stoma - Cohesive seals are completely moldable, allowing the seal to conform exactly to the size and shape of the stoma for a perfect fit every time.
There's no cutting and one size fits all; for those who need extra protection there are also Eakin double-thickness seals.
  • Strong Adhesives - No matter how much they are handled, Eakin seals retain their sticky adhesives.
They can also be broken into pieces and rejoined to fit abnormal stomas, or to fill uneven skin surfaces.
  • Extend Pouch Wear Time - Due to the seal barrier between the skin and the appliance, Eakin seals can increase pouch wear times.
  • Allergen Free - No cases of allergies have ever been reported as a result of using an Eakin seal.
How do you wear an Eakin Seal? An Eakin seal is a simple first step to changing an Ostomy appliance.
First, clean up the stoma and the skin around it.
Make sure the area is dry with no grease or creams.
Put the seal between your hands or under your arm to warm it up to body temperature.
This will help the seal mold and seal easier.
Next, remove the paper from both sides of the seal and mold the seal into shape for your body.
Now carefully place the molded seal around the stoma snugly and fit it against the skin.
Finally, place the pouch over the seal and hold it in place for a minute or two to ensure a strong connection between the seal and the Ostomy pouch.
