How to Create a Job Chart for the Elementary Classroom
- 1). Cover a piece of corkboard with felt. Attach the felt to the board with staples.
- 2). Turn the board so the long side is perpendicular to the floor. Measure the top of the board Cut a piece of posterboard using this measurement as the length and five inches as the width.
- 3). Write the name of your class on the poster board.
- 4). Write the classroom jobs on index cards with colored markers.
- 5). Have your students write their names on index cards. Let them decorate the cards with colored pencils and markers. Write their names on the back of the cards for easy identification.
- 6). Laminate the job and name cards and the posterboard with contact paper.
- 7). Cut one-inch pieces of Velcro. Pull the Velcro apart. Use the prickly side only. Attach one piece to the back of each index cards. Attach one piece to each corner of the poster board.
- 8). Place the job cards along the left side of the board. Space the cards evenly so the jobs can be read. Place the soft pieces of Velcro under each index card once you have them arranged.
- 9). Determine how many students you need for each job. Place the soft side of the Velcro pieces next to the job cards. If your need multiple students for a job, space the Velcro evenly next to the appropriate card.

Place the students' name cards next to their assigned jobs.
