5 Locations To Get Married Around Launceston
- The Cataract Gorge - Just a brisk 15 minute walk from the centre of Launceston, the Cataract Gorge is a scenic wonder with lush greenery surrounding the rocky rapids of the South Esk River. The Gorge Cliff Grounds provide the perfect backdrop for a garden ceremony - glorious rhododendrons; green ferns and foliage; and peacocks and the occasional wallaby. Walking tracks provide numerous photo opportunities as you wander down to the river or across the Suspension Bridge. For your reception, the Gorge Restaurant serves mouth-watering local produce complimented by an impressive wine list and friendly service.
- Entally Estate - This time a 15 minute drive from Launceston in Hadspen, Entally House was built in 1819 and is a magnificent homestead surrounded by manicured gardens boasting stables, a coach house, and the quaintest little chapel. Your photographer is spoilt for choice here, as are you - will you have a garden ceremony or get married in the stone chapel? For your reception, you can erect a marquee on either the Farmyard Lawn, the Cricket Ground (the oldest in Australia) or in the Vineyard.
- The Leaning Church Vineyard - Located 20 minutes from Launceston in Lalla on the Tamar Valley Wine Route, this recently opened venue has a gorgeous 97 year old church that yes, has a lean. Photo opportunities include the lily-covered lake and rows of vines, and a marquee can be erected for your reception where fabulous wine will be in abundance. I can recommend the 2008 Merlot Cabernet, which is described as a "perfect addition for those sleepy nights lazing naked on a thick shagpile rug in front of an open fire while eating chocolate-coated plums". Mmmm!
- The Country Club Tasmania - Only minutes from Launceston the Country Club is a premier wedding location. They can cater to a wedding of any size in one of their multiple function rooms, and have beautiful gardens, waterfalls and lakes for the backdrop of what will be gorgeous wedding photos. Your guests are also catered to with overnight accommodation available.
- Grindelwald at the Tamar Valley Resort - This location provides a few choices for your ceremony: the lakeside gazebo provides a romantic outdoor setting for you to exchange your wedding vows, while the enchanting lakeside chapel with its turn of the century pews seats 70 guests and provides an intimate ambience. You can also utilise anywhere throughout the gardens or by the lake. For your reception, the restaurant or a private function room may be used, or your guests could enjoy an outdoor barbeque for something a little less formal.
