DIY Carbon Monoxide Detector
- 1). Install a carbon monoxide detector near but not in a room that has a water heater or heating unit.
- 2). Place the carbon monoxide detector's base template on the wall with tape. Mark the screw locations on the wall with a pencil.
- 3). Drill holes where you marked the screw locations in Step 2 with a drill and drill bit. Follow the manufacturer's directions for the specific drill bit size. Insert the wall anchors provided in the kit into the wall.
- 4). Drive screws into the wall anchor with a drill. Make sure to leave the screw heads a little bit away from the wall -- sticking out of the wall -- and slide the mounting plate over the screw heads. Tighten the screws with the drill.
- 5). Snap the carbon monoxide detector into place with your hands.
