How to Get Government Loans For School
- 1). Apply Online. You can apply for government loans and assistance online. The website is http://www2.ed.gov/programs/fpg/index.html. You need to read over the eligibility requirements and then use the online application to apply. The application once submitted will let you know right away if you are accepted.
- 2). Review Process. The Federal government will review your application and within 2 weeks they will let you know if you have been approved for acceptance. Once accepted you can apply to any college you wish to go. Your federal loans will be sent to the school that you choose and are accepted into.
- 3). Loan Repayment. The loans do not have to be repaid till you finish school. You have a 6-month grace period after graduation before your first payment is expected. But as long as you are in school at least part-time you will not have to repay the loans and you can get them deferred for up to three years if have financial hardship.
