    • 1). Obtain IRS Form 8822: Change of Address. You can access the PDF version of this form by clicking the link in the "Resources" section below or ordering a copy of the form by calling the IRS at 1-800-829-3676.

    • 2). Complete IRS Form 8822. You will be required to provide your name, Social Security number, any prior names (if you recently changed your name), your previous address, your spouse's name if you file joint tax returns, your new address and whether you are an individual or business taxpayer.

    • 3). Review, sign and mail Form 8822 to the IRS. Double check to make sure all of your new information is correct and place your signature at the bottom of the form. If you file taxes jointly with a spouse, your spouse must sign the form as well. Mail the form to your local IRS campus. To obtain the mailing address for your specific local or regional IRS office, call the IRS at: 1-800-829-1040.
