'Practice makes a man perfect' - This saying goes well with how we perform today.
To achieve anything, we need to do something constantly to get it.
Suppose you wish to lose weight.
Then you must go to the gym regularly, and not just for 2-3 days.
Undoubtedly, exercising keeps your body fit.
For being very active while doing anything, you need to struggle for an hour at the gym.
In a similar manner, the same holds true for eyes as well.
The eyes deserve as much attention and importance as any other part of our body, irrespective of people's claim that they are not very strained since they lie at a fixed place since the time we were born.
You must have seen small children playing in a garden, and some of them wear an eye patch as well.
They don't just wear it for fun or fashion, but because of an eye problem which is known as 'the lazy eye.
' The problem, as the name suggests, is about the eyes being too lazy, so it fails to automatically adjust to the objects that are near or at a distant place.
The vision is not properly coordinated, and for settling that, and in such a case, doctors suggest keeping one eye under an eye patch in order to get the other eye enough practice to synchronize vision in the perfect manner.
Like your body, your eyes too need regular exercise and if you do those, the eyes will always stay very fit.
Moving and contracting eye muscles daily will ensure that refractive errors like myopia and hyperopia never occur to you.
You can act as an eye doctor and buy an eye chart - the same from which you read out small and very small alphabets at eye clinics.
Have a look at the chart on a regular basis, or even randomly.
Apart from the chart, you can do so with other things even.
Remember not to concentrate very hard on any given alphabet, but give equal attention to the whole space around it.
Just don't stare at any given word, but look at all the words that you are reading and keep in mind the sentence's construction as a whole.
It will be of good help as your eyes will be accustomed to not get fixed at one given word, and this will relax the eye muscles as well.
Have fun while taking these exercises, and consider it to be a game.
This would develop interest to keep on practicing it regularly.
With time, you'd find that your eyes are getting little or no strain and also, your concentration power improves.
Regular eye exercises help in the following manner: oThey aid in the movement and the contraction of eye muscles for keeping them healthy oThey prevent the occurrence of refractive errors like myopia or hyperopia oThey give the eye constant practice so it gets less strain There is a criticism to this theory as well.
Since the eye muscles are normally involved in the positioning of the eyeballs and keeping them in place, they are not very used to such rigorous exercises
