Earth Box DIY
- 1). Set the pond basket next to the plastic tub. Mark the height of the pond basket onto the outside of the plastic tub. Draw the line all around the tub at this height, making sure it is even on all sides.
- 2). Cut off the top of the plastic tub to the pencil line. Use a jigsaw to cut the plastic tub. Throw away the top portion of the plastic tub.
- 3). Turn the plastic tub over so the bottom faces up. Trace the outline of the top of the pond basket onto the center of the tub bottom. Draw a smaller circle inside the circle, 1 inch from the edge of the original circle. Cut out the inside circle with the jigsaw.
- 4). Cut a 1 to 1 ½-inch large hole in one corner of the plastic tub bottom. Drill small holes all around the rest of the plastic tub bottom. Drill a small hole into the middle of the bottom of the second tub.
- 5). Place the pond basket inside the second tub. Place the first tub on top of the pond basket inside the second tub. Make sure the pond basket sits directly under the large hole in the middle.
- 6). Place a piece of flexible pipe through the smaller hole you drilled into the first tub. Cut the bottom of the tube at an angle for better water flow. Allow the top of the tubing to stick out from above the top of the tubs.
- 7). Drill nine 1 ½-inch diameter holes into the lid of the tub. Push the loose end of the plastic tubing through one of the holes. The other eight holes will hold plants. Fill the top portion of the tub and the pond basket with dirt, and water through the flexible tube.
