How to Make Your Lawnmower Go Faster
- 1). Remove the top cover off the lawn mower engine. Use the correct-sized sockets to remove the five to seven bolts that hold the cover over the flywheel on the lawn mower engine.
- 2). Unscrew the bolt holding the plastic flap next to the flywheel. This plastic flap is the governor. Unhook the springs from the governor connecting to the throttle and carburetor.
- 3). Bolt the engine cover back over the flywheel.
- 4). Locate the muffler on the mower engine. Make sure it is tightly screwed to the exhaust port on the engine block. The muffler provides back pressure the engine needs for optimal power and speed.
- 5). Replace the air filter with a new one. A clean air filter will allow more airflow into the engine for more power and speed.
- 6). Fill the fuel tank on the lawn mower with a fast burning, high octane gas--gas stations sell 92 octane.
