Why I Wish to Pursue a Career as an MT
I wish to pursue a career as an online medical transcriptionist because working from my home and having a flexible schedule is very valuable to my current lifestyle. I am the mother of four children and wish to be available for them and believe working from home will enable me to do this. I am currently getting divorced and am a dislocated worker. I have been a homemaker for the last 16 years and have home educated my children for the last 10 years. A career as an MT will enable me to meet my financial goals while allowing me the flexibility to continue to be home with my children. Spending time with my family is very important and is my priority. I believe my past work experience and my experience as a home educator make me well-qualified to work from home as an MT. I am detail-oriented and organized. I am efficient and a hard worker. My past work experience includes data entry and proof reading in several areas including the advertising industry, county government and accounting. My goals include obtaining training as an MT. This is a necessary component to success in this field.
I believe in educating myself in order to perform and to be productive in this industry. Another added benefit for me would be the connection to the medical field in general. My mother was a Registered Nurse and my brother is currently an MD specializing in Internal Medicine. Working in the medical field has been extremely rewarding to both my mother and my brother. Although a career as an MT is not as hands on as a MD or an RN, it suits me better and is more in line with my talents and abilities. I have, over the years, maintained a very good relationship with the children's pediatrician and my OB/Gynecologist. Becoming an MT will enable to facilitate the work of good doctors to keep their patients healthy and strong. SN:0TG9Y2ESY
Each part of the medical field helps the other part. Doing this would add value to my work in knowing that I was helping doctors help their patients. I know several people with cancer. These friends need accuracy from the people who handle their medical records. When I worked for the accounting firm, my managers told me that I had a very high level of accuracy and brought their work to me rather than other typists because they knew it would be done accurately. Therefore, yet another added benefit to beginning a career as an MT would be to ultimately help patients maintain accurate records with their doctor's office. Thank you so much for this opportunity to obtain some scholarship monies in order to pursue a career as a work at home medical transcriptionist. It is a great opportunity and offers hope to dislocated workers (like myself) who wish to spend quality time with their family. I look forward to working in the MT industry and to furthering my education. I believe that everything we learn is worthwhile and greatly adds to our ability to function in different job environments.
