  Removing stains from clothing is often a daunting task. When you are confronted with a stain, it's difficult to know exactly how to remove it, the best way to wash it and the right water temperature to use. In addition, some fabric responds best to hand washing because the machine may damage it. Depending on the type of stain, consider some tips to help you remove it from your laundry items.
  
  

Permanent Ink

• Permanent ink stains are sometimes troublesome. You have probably dealt with this at one time or another, especially if you have children. You can try a few things to remove the stain. One way to remove it is to spray the permanent ink stain with hairspray. Soak it well with the hairspray, and let the hairspray sit on the stain for about 10 minutes before washing it in really hot water.
  
  

Chocolate

• If you spill chocolate on a light-colored shirt, you may think that it is ruined. Surprisingly, you can often remove chocolate stains by simply washing the clothes as usual. If that isn't the case, make a paste out of borax and cold water, soak the item for one hour and launder it as usual. No specific measurements are required; mix in the water until the borax forms a paste.
  
  

Coffee

• One way to remove a coffee stain from clothing is to mix one egg yolk with warm water. Use a white cloth to apply some of the mixture to it. Dab the coffee stain with the cloth until the stain is gone. Once you have removed the stain, wash the clothing item as usual.
  
  

Blood

• Blood stains are sometimes difficult to remove from clothing. One laundry tip to remove blood stains is to wash the item in cold water. If the stain is particularly resistant, add about three drops of ammonia to the washing machine. If this doesn't work the first time, try washing in cold water another time or two, and the blood stain should lift.
