Switching To Electric Lawn Mowers

101 8
Spring is just around the corner and that means it's time to drag out the lawn mower for another season of cutting grass every weekend. If you are tired of the noise, smell, pollution, and cost of gas that a gas-powered mower requires, then maybe it's time you switch to a cordless electric lawn mower.  Electric lawn mowers are quiet, clean, easy to start, and require no gas, oil changes, or spark plugs.  While they can vary in size and performance, they all are perfectly acceptable alternatives to their gas-powered counterparts.

Little Noise

Cordless electric lawn mowers are much easier on the ears.On average, an electric lawn mower makes no more noise than a washing machine, which is about 75 decibels. In comparison, a gas-powered lawn mower can make as much noise as a motorcycle, which reaches around 95 decibels. Noise pollution tends to be a real problem if neighbors are close in vicinity and tend to be late sleepers on the Saturday mornings that you choose to mow your lawn. Not only can the noise create problems with your neighbors, they also pose a threat to the people who use them. Loud noise that exceeds 85 decibels can contribute to hearing loss. Switching to an electric mower will ease the stress on your ears, and your neighbors.

No Air Pollution

They also offer a compelling environmental benefit- they pollute much less than gas-powered mowers. Running a gas-powered mower for 1 hour is the equivalent to driving a car 93 miles. In 2003, the EPA reported that lawn and garden equipment accounted for 5 percent of all ozone-forming emissions. Emissions and spills from gas containers and tanks also contribute to soil and air pollution.  Electric mowers are much kinder to our air and environment. They have no exhaust emissions and do not require a gas can susceptible to spillage and fume evaporation.

Low Maintenance

Another great reason to discover this awesome technology- they do not require oil changes, spark plugs, air filters, or tune-ups. On average, an electric mower only costs about $5 in terms of energy cost a year to run. Beyond replacing the battery, which can be recycled, every 5 to 7 years and sharpening the blades as needed, there is little, if any, maintenance. This is a significant savings when compared to the expense of a gas-powered mower which requires fuel, oil changes, and other general maintenance. The bottom line- cordless electric lawn mowers are quieter, more user friendly, require less maintenance, and cause less airborne pollution. It's time to discover what the world of electric lawn mowers has to offer. You are bound to satisfy the need of curbing your dependency on gas, and to find an eco-friendly solution while still keeping your lawn in excellent shape.
