Making Invitations for Showers
- 1). Create a theme for your shower. Having a theme, like tropical, gardening, toys or baby items, will make it easier to create your invitations, decorate for the shower and choose the food to serve. Be sure to decide on the colors you want to use for your theme.
- 2). Purchase cardstock sheets and envelopes in the color, or colors, you chose for your shower. Copy shops, office supply stores, craft stores and scrapbook supply shops should carry a wide variety of cardstock. Have the store cut the cardstock to size and to fit your envelopes. You should have already decided if the invitations are to be folded or a single card.
- 3). Print with your word processing program, or attractively write with markers or pens, the shower information on a paper that is lighter weight than the cardstock, like 20 weight bond, craft paper or gift wrapping paper. Again, this lighter weight paper can be a coordinating color to match your shower theme.
- 4). Cut out your printed shower information with specialty scissors, used for scrapbooking. Attach these fancy cut paper pieces to the cardstock with glue or a glue stick.
- 5). Embellish your shower invitations to fit your theme using glitter, rubber stamping, paper punched images, threaded ribbon tied into bows and/or stickers. Your invitation envelopes can also have the same type of embellishment.
