    Prepping the Styrofoam Base

    • 1). Decide which size Styrofoam cone best suit the types of flowers you are using to decorate the pews. For more extravagant cone pews that hold larger flowers, you will need larger cones that hold the flowers securely. For smaller, shorter flowers, a smaller Styrofoam cone provides a snug, secure fit and ensures that the flowers and cone are in proportion with one another.

    • 2). Soak the Styrofoam cones in cold water. Allow the excess water to drip off the cones and place them on the clean towel.

    • 3). Allow the cones to dry for one hour. While you wait for the cones to dry, measure the cloth or material you are using to cover the Styrofoam cones.

    Decorating the Cone Pews

    • 1). Cut each piece of material to the proper length to fit around each cone. Allow for an extra 2 to 3 inches on each side to provide a secure fit.

    • 2). Place a piece of pre-cut material face down. Place the cone in the center of the material.

    • 3). Wrap each cone in the material and use straight pins to adhere the material to the cone. You can also use decorative pearl or rhinestone straight pins, which add an extra element of detail.

    • 4). Insert the flowers inside of the cone pew markers by pushing them through the center of the cone. Add your desired filler and arrange the flowers and filler inside the cone pew marker.

    • 5). Embellish the body of the cone pew marker by using decorative pins. You can also use ribbon in your choice of color.

    • 6). Cut the ribbon long enough to allow an extra 4 inches on each side. This allows you to wrap it around once, twist it into a diamond pattern, and then secure the remaining ribbon in the back.

    • 7). Wrap the ribbon around the cone pew marker. There should be equal amounts of ribbon on the right and left sides. Take the right side of the ribbon, place it underneath the left side, and pull the ribbon tight and downward. This slight twisting motion and movement of the ribbon is what forms the diamond pattern.

    • 8). Pull the remaining ribbon on the left and right sides toward the back. Adhere the remaining ribbon with straight pins or tie a bow to keep the design in tact.

    • 9). Place the pew markers in place with the pew holders. Adjust or arrange the flowers and the embellishments on the pew cones.
