How to Set Up Linksys Routers for Clear Communications
- 1). Move the router away from objects that can cause signal interference. For example, move the router away from a metal filing cabinet.
- 2). Relocate the router to a more central location. For example, the middle of the second floor of a two-story or three-story building is the ideal location because the wireless signal is radiated in an omnidirectional pattern from the router.
- 3). Change the router wireless channel. Open a Web browser, and then type "192.168.1.1" without quotes into the address bar. Press "Enter." Type "admin" for the user name and password for newer Linksys routers. Leave the user name blank and type "admin" for the password for older Linksys routers. Click "Wireless," and then click to change the channel. Click "Save Settings."
