    Removing and Re-installing

    • Removing and reinstalling a Bluetooth device often helps fix any of the problems that you may have had with a lost connection. If you are using Windows Vista, start this process by clicking on the start button on the bottom left-hand side of the page. The start button looks like a circular Windows logo. Click on "Control Panel," "Hardware and Sound" and then "Bluetooth Devices."

Find the device that is not working. For example, if the mouse has lost its connection, click on the mouse icon on the screen and select the "Remove" button. After the device has been removed, click on "Add" and press the reset button on the mouse. In many cases, you can reset the mouse by turning it off and back on quickly. There is a box on the page that has the words "My device is set up and ready to be found" next to it. Click on this box.

If the mouse is not found the first time, you may need to reset the device again and click on the box again. This can take a few times before it works and finds the connection. When the screen says that the device has been found, click on "Next."

A series of simple instructions will appear on the screen to complete the installation. Follow these instructions and your Bluetooth device should work.

    Other Options

    • There are other simple things that can be done to troubleshoot the Bluetooth connection to the Windows Vista computer. Make sure that the Bluetooth device is turned on and that it has batteries inside of it that are good. If your computer has an external Bluetooth adapter, make sure it is properly plugged in and turned on.
