    • 1). Click "Start" and select "Run" to open a dialog box on your computer screen.

    • 2). Type "regedit" into the textbox and press "Enter" to launch Windows Registry Editor.

    • 3). Navigate to the following Registry key:

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

    • 4). Right-click in the right window pane and select "New" followed by "DWORD Value." Name the new DWORD value "NoControlPanel" and press "Enter."

    • 5). Right-click the "NoControlPanel" entry and select "Modify."

    • 6). Change the number in the "Value" box to "1." This will disable access to the control panel.
