How to Clean an HVAC Evaporator
- 1). Turn off your air conditioner and open the evaporator access door on your air handler or air conditioner unit with the socket wrench.
- 2). Mix a solution of 1 part water and 1 part bleach and pour it into your unit's drain line at the bottom of the condenser. This will remove any clogs in the line.
- 3). Spray the air conditioning coil cleaner on the sides of the coils. You can purchase the cleaner at a home improvement store. Spray the flat sides of the evaporator with the cleaner.
- 4). Close the unit back up with the socket wrench and turn on your air conditioner. The cleaner will be rinsed away with the condensation on the coils.
