How to Draw Bean-Plant Leaves

    • 1). Use the bean plant or the picture to sketch the bean plant. Start by sketching the stem of the bean plant as a slender stem that curves slightly as it grows out of the soil. Make the stem several inches tall and make it separate in half at the top of the stem.

    • 2). Draw the tiny cotyledons approximately halfway between the soil level and the top of the bean stem. The cotyledons are small leaves that curve down as they grow out of the stem.

    • 3). Make two large bean leaves at the top of the stem where the stem separates in two. Bean leaves resemble a heart with two large lobes at the tops of the leaves and a point at the bottom of the leaves. Draw a central vein going down the center of the leaves and small side veins extending out from the center vein. Make these bean leaves approximately four or five times larger than the small cotyledons.

    • 4). Add color to the drawing. Fill in the stem, the cotyledons and the leaves with the green colored pencil.
