In all countries, despite the culture, religion or size of the wedding, you will always find some way of wedding cake. Over time, the cake has continued to play a symbolic role in the wedding party, wheat and general inspiration as a symbol of fertility. In our last issue we look at the history, traditions and superstitions surrounding the wedding cake - now let's take a look at the different cakes from around the world.
However similar in concept, each country has its own adaptation of the wedding cake, turned over hundreds of years of tradition. The breaking of the cake on the head of the brides is an ancient ritual, which was gradually followed by the stacking of small cakes at the head table party, on which the couple were expected to kiss to ensure fertility. A pile of small cakes is still around, as the French style wedding cake - the croquemboch.

In ancient China, the bride's family would take a quilt at the four corners and on it, jump four small cakes, baked by the groom families, in front of the bride as she cited the virtues of marriage.Today, Chinese wedding guests will receive their slice of bean paste with the invitation, but later you can enjoy traditional western cake - usually bright red and gold - at the reception.
In Liberia a custom was established whereby the release of a cake on the roof of the groom home was considered very important for a successful marriage, while in Macedonia was considered mandatory for four days before the wedding, be taken with the yeast cake wedding. A boy, representing the husband and protector of the house would watch over the process, while a young man would fall a mass wedding ring, while nobody was looking. Who received the piece of cake containing the ring was said to be the next to marry.

The French first introduced the cherry on the cake for the world, and both look attractive and its sweet flavor, was readily accepted and has continued. The custom evolved layers of cake and grooms wedding cake - a cake grooms being heavier, darker, and the bride's cake was a highly decorated, placed on top. Today it is still common for bridal couples to have both a fruit and a cake at their wedding.

Australia tend to opt for delicate, feminine and very small flowers with icing often built beyond the borders of the cake, while the South African bride usually goes to the most luxurious decoration with sugar flowers and fruits, extensive rents and costumes. Due to our climate, ice cream cakes are also becoming very popular in South African weddings, the cake often substituting dessert.
Because South Africa is a country rich in diversity of culture - where many different customs and rituals surrounding marriage co-exist, we present to you, the world `Potjie first cake.
America offers its own range of wedding cake, usually in the form of a sponge cake, normally at least two height levels with a butter icing over and fresh flowers.
The baking of the traditional Jewish wedding cake is made under strict kosher laws, with the tableware and be blessed in advance.Otherwise, the cake looks and tastes much like any other Western-style cake.
In the Philippines, some abundance of flowers adorn the tops of the cakes in a very dramatic. Cakes at least six high levels are favored by Indonesians, with the belief that high on the cake, the more prosperous marriage. Mexican wedding cakes tell the story of courtship and marriage of the couple, with gum-past dolls dressed in detailed, positioned in life-like settings around the cake. In Austria and Germany rich, chocolate sponge cake is traditional at weddings and consist of a combination of cream, chocolate, brandy, toast and vanilla nougat.These 3-5 layer cakes usually consist of about 30 s sponge layer, frosty with royal icing and decorated with thin layers of chocolate and marzipan and decorated with works of art of chocolate sugar flowers.
And now for something completely different - in Luxembourg, the traditional wedding cake is cooked in a rod bearing. Shortcake-like rings are then stacked glass and the largest ring on the bottom and a crown made of almonds and sugar on top ring.
As you can see, there are many different varieties of wedding cake to choose from and a cake, unusual in its foreign reception will not only amaze your guests, but will also challenge your cake decorator!
