Windows Mobile PDAs

• Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system runs on a large assortment of devices from different manufacturers. The software includes a portable version of Windows Media Player that synchronizes natively with the PC version. Popular models include HP's iPAQ line of PDAs, the HTC Touch, Motorola Q and Samsung Omnia. Note that Windows Phone 7 and Zune devices use Microsoft's free Zune Software program for media syncing, and will not operate with Windows Media Player.
  
  

Other Smartphones

• Smartphones running the Android operating system work with Windows Media Player, and will load synchronized media into the device's default "Music" folder. An update for the BlackBerry Media Sync software allows syncing from Windows Media Player, although the feature requires a system with both programs installed. WebOS devices such as the Palm Pre also sync with Media Player.
  
  

Third Party MP3 Players

• Windows Media Player recognizes several third-party lines of MP3 audio players. Compatible devices include Sony Walkman players, SanDisk's Sansa line of MP3/radio devices and Creative's Zen music players. The software will operate with many other devices as well. Check Microsoft's Windows Compatibility Center for information on a specific device, or simply connect it to the computer and check Windows Media Player to see if it is recognized.
  
  

iPod/iOS Devices

• Although iPods and other Apple iOS devices are among the most popular portable audio devices, they do not natively work with Windows Media Player. Apple offers the iTunes software as a free and official method of transferring media. Users with a Windows Media Player library can import the music files into iTunes using the "Add folder to Library" function in the File menu, and then transfer the music to an iOS device through iTunes.
