    • 1). Insert the iPod opening tool between the metallic casing and the front black screen. Move the tool around the edge of the iPod and continue prying open the front screen. Pry gently to avoid damaging internal components. Pull way the black plastic cover surrounding the screen when it seems loose enough to remove.

    • 2). Lift up the black display still inside the casing. Lift up from the side closest to the power button. The display is hinged on two small screws. Remove these screws with a Phillips screwdriver and place them off to the side. Slowly pull the display out of the casing.

    • 3). Pull off the copper ribbon tying the display to the casing. The copper ribbon holds the battery onto the back of the display.

    • 4). Pull off the copper ribbon from the battery slowly. The display and battery should be fully separated from the phone casing.
