How to Restore Windows XP From Command Prompt
- 1). Open the "Start" menu and click "Turn Off the Computer." Click "Restart" to restart your operating system.
- 2). Tap the "F8" key as your computer reboots. It is necessary to begin tapping the "F8" key before the Windows logo is visible.
- 3). Highlight the "Safe Mode with a Command Prompt" option in the boot menu using the arrow keys on your keyboard. Press "Enter" to confirm your selection.
- 4). Log into an account with administrative privileges. Administrator privileges are necessary for the command prompt to have access to the System Restore utility.
- 5). Type "%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe" to direct the command prompt to the System Restore utility's location. Press "Enter."
