    Harman's North Fork Cottages

    • Harman's, located in the town of Cabins, just west of Petersburg, in the Monongahela National Forest, reserves several cabins for honeymoons or romantic getaways. The one-bedroom, one-bathroom accommodations have queen-sized beds and indoor whirlpool tubs facing a native stone fireplace. Some have indoor or outdoor hot tubs. A trophy trout stream runs through the property for catch and release fishing. A sheer cliff overlooks the cabins and a hiking path winds to the top. A private swimming hole is a mile away. Dolly Sods, adjacent to Harman's, offers a variety of hiking opportunities.

    The Inn at Lost River

    • The Inn at Lost River, open from April to December, is near the West Virginia/Virginia state line, about 25 miles west of Woodstock. The Inn has three standard guest rooms in the main house and two private cabins with queen pillowtop beds, down comforters, private baths and sitting porches. The room rate includes gourmet breakfast, wine and hors d'oeuvres in the afternoon and evening snacks. Lost River, a tiny town on the river of the same name, is convenient to hiking, rafting and fishing. Antique stores dot the region, and crafters display their work at Harper Barn.

Smoke Hole Caverns & Log Cabins Resort

    • Smoke Hole Log Cabins, located in Seneca Rocks, offers riverside honeymoon cabins with one bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen and a heart-shaped Jacuzzi tub. The 700-square-foot cabins have fireplaces and private porches with grills. Seneca Rocks is a popular destination for rock climbers, and Smoke Hole Caverns offers hour-long underground tours. The onsite outfitter provides guide service and fishing lessons. In nearby Smoke Hole gorge, the South Fork of the Potomac River twists for 20 miles between steep cliffs.

    Bathkeeper's Cottage

    • Bathkeeper's Cottage, located one block from the hot springs of the state park in Berkeley Springs, is a one-bedroom, one-bathroom cabin with an equipped kitchen in a secluded location within walking distance of all of the town's features. George Washington took the waters at Berkeley Springs, which calls itself "America's First Spa." The state park offers budget-friendly massages, but several day spas in the town offer everything from salon services to couples massage. Dining choices include a restaurant and bar serving moderately priced local seafood and produce, a steakhouse with panoramic mountain views and a roadhouse.
