How to Locate the Product Key From the Office 2000 Pro CD
- 1). Look for an orange or yellow sticker with a 25-character sequence on the back of the CD case. This is your product key. If the program was pre-installed on your computer, continue to the next step.
- 2). Check the back of your computer for an orange or yellow sticker with the 25 character sequence. If you're using a laptop, it may be located on the bottom of the laptop.
- 3). Contact Microsoft (see Resources) to replace the product key.
- 4). Download and install a freeware product key-finding program, such as WinKeyFinder, MS Product Key Viewer or Magic Jelly Bean Key Finder (see Resources). The products work the same way; you select a program from a list of options presented, and the key-finding program searches your registry for the encrypted product key. Most are free to use. However, Magic Jelly Bean Key Finder has a professional version that costs $24.95, as of March 2011.
