With so many types of eczema cream on the market its hard to keep up with them.
All claim to be the solution to this particular problem, but some are not only unreliable, they may actually be bad for you.
The problem with this condition is that it all comes down to dry skin.
When you experience eczema your skin dries out much more than it normally would and this results in dry, flaky patches that become irritated and red- resembling a rash.
This causes the skin to itch, so we scratch it, which further irritates the skin, and so on and so on.
The only way to effectively halt this progression is to moisturize the skin to stop the vicious cycle.
Lotions have long been the key to finding relief- if you choose carefully.
To help moisturize skin you can go with Nivea, Lubriderm, Cethaphil or Eucerin.
All of these have proven track records to helping bring back proper moisture levels.
If this is doing well, but you still need additional help then you may want to try an ointment instead.
Vanicream, Aquaphor and Hydrolatum are all excellent choices and will give you relief from severely dry skin.
Moisturizing lotions may not help as much as other creams so you will have to treat it like every other method you try: you need to pick one and give it a chance to work.
If you don't see remarkable results then you simply go to another one.
When you get into the category of creams that are steroids there are a few things to remember.
First, they should be applied right after bathing and again throughout the day as directed on the bottle.
And unlike regular brands these should only be used when you are experiencing flareups as it is not a long term solution.
Some that you may be use are Elocon, Westcort, Cutivate, Artistocort and Lociod Lipocream.
It should be noted that two brands of eczema cream, Elidel and Protopic, have received warnings from the FDA that they might be associated with some forms of cancer.
