    • 1). Sketch the mushroom first. Begin at the bottom edge of your drawing area and draw two vertical lines for the stem of the mushroom (toad stool.) The lines should each curve slightly inward, with the end of each line pointing toward the outer edges of your paper. The space between these lines will vary depending upon how thick you want the stem of the toad stool to be.

    • 2). Draw the mushroom cap next. Begin at the end of the left vertical line (your left) and draw a half circle that connects the mushroom cap from one end of the stem to the other. Draw a smaller version of the same shape within the boundaries of the larger mushroom cap to create the underside of the cap.

    • 3). Draw a frog sitting on the mushroom cap. Begin at the frog's head and draw a line toward the mushroom cap at an angle to form the top of the frog's head and back. Curve this line around to form the frog's bottom sitting on the mushroom cap and extend the line to form the frogs hind legs. Return to the top of the frog's head and draw a curved line to form the frog's face and neck, extending the line down to form the front feet. Draw a circle on the head for the frog's eye. Draw a crown shape on the frog's head for effect.

    • 4). Draw blades of grass on your sketch. Draw each blade of grass without lifting your pencil from the paper. Begin each blade at the bottom of your drawing and extending a vertical line up to the mushroom cap, curving the line slightly to form a point at the tip of the grass blade before you bring the line back down to the bottom of the page. Draw as many grass blades as you need to ensure there are blades of grass all around and in front of the mushroom.

    • 5). Color the blades of grass. Use color pencil or shade with your lead pencil. The blades of grass should be a solid, dark color (green if you use colored pencil.) Shade the frog a lighter color than the blades of grass. Color the cap of the mushroom in a light color and add a dark color beneath the mushroom cap. These variations of color will give contrast to the drawing.
