How to Remove Mold From the Air
- 1). Put on a dust mask, safety goggles and rubber gloves.
- 2). Open windows and doors to allow for better air circulation, providing your work area with proper ventilation.
- 3). Toss out and replace items with porous surfaces. Mold cannot be completely removed from items such as paper, drywall and carpet padding.
- 4). Moisten mold with water to help eliminate the number of mold spores that become airborne when you clean.
- 5). Wipe as much of the mold from items as possible using a damp cloth or sponge.
- 6). Mix 1 cup of bleach, 1tbsp. of mild dish-washing liquid and 1 gallon of water in a 5-gallon bucket.
- 7). Scrub plastic, metal, flooring, wood and glass items with the mixture. The bleach will kill the mold.
- 8). Rinse the items with clean water.
- 9). Position fans in the area to aid in drying. Allow the items to dry completely.
