How to Set Up a Tropical Roof on a Camper Trailer
- 1). Consult the literature provided with your tropical roof for detailed set-up instructions. There is no industry standard for erection style, sequence or equipment.
- 2). Deploy the rigid supports which run the length of the tropical roof from fore to aft. Customarily, there will be two supports which may take the form of telescopic or extending tent poles slid into stitched receivers or fabric loops, or inbuilt supports similar to pool noodles which unfold with the canvas.
- 3). Deploy the upright poles between the tropical roof and the upper part of the camper trailer or the ground. The Insert tops of the upright poles inserted into sockets stitched into the canvas. Alternatively, stub supports may serve to keep the tropical roof away from the tent. These are held in place by guy ropes threaded through reinforced eyelets in the fabric.
- 4). Deploy the spreader bars which give the tropical roof side-to-side rigidity. Pass them through stitched-in sleeve receivers, or thread them through loops of fabric stitched to the outside of the tropical roof. Fit spreader bars at each end into sockets stitched into the canvas or clamped to the upright poles.
- 5). Use guy ropes to give the entire structure rigidity, if the manufacturer suggests or provides them. Stretch guy ropes between reinforced eyelets in the fabric of the tropical roof to tent pegs, driving them with a rubber mallet into the ground in a pattern dictated by the manufacturer's instructions.
