How to Install a Full Version of Windows 98SE
- 1). Set your computer to boot first from your CD ROM drive. In most cases, this is automatic, however if you need to, you can enter BIOS (check your computer's manual to find out how) and change the "boot order" to make it boot first from your CD.
- 2). Insert your CD and reboot the computer. You may see a message "Press any key to boot from CD." Follow the instructions.
- 3). Select "Start Windows 98 Setup from CD-ROM."
- 4). Press the "Enter" key when prompted to continue.
- 5). Click "Continue" once setup has begun.
- 6). Click "Next" when asked which directory you want Windows 98SE to install to, or select "Other" and then specify the directory you want to install to.
- 7). Select your setup option. You can choose "Typical," "Portable," (For laptops with limited hard drive space) "Compact" (for laptops or computers with limited hard drive space) or "Custom" (you choose which components to install." Unless you have a specific reason to do so, you can generally choose "Typical" and then click "Next."
- 8). Choose whether you want to install the most common components or you want to install additional components. Click "Next."
- 9). Enter your workgroup information and click "Next." (Note: This applies only if your computer is on a network.)

Select your country setting and click "Next." Windows setup will continue and you will be told that the computer is going to reboot. You can either choose to click "Reboot now" or just wait for it to reboot. - 11
Remove the CD from the CD drive and allow the computer to boot to the hard drive. - 12
Enter your name when prompted for "User information" and click "Next." - 13
Select "I accept the license agreement" when prompted to accept the license agreement and click "Next." - 14
Enter the Windows product key from your COA and click "Next." - 15
Click "Finish." Windows Setup will continue working and reboot your computer again. - 16
Enter the time and date when prompted. Click "Apply" and then "OK." Setup will continue working and reboot one more time. When it finishes, Windows98SE will be fully installed.
