How to Clean Cemetery Stone Markers & Tombstones
- 1). Remove any flowers, wreaths or pictures that may be adorning the tombstone. Dip your brush into the water and allow the bristles to become saturated. Start at the top of the tombstone or marker, allowing the solution to drip down the stone, and gently scrub at the accumulated debris with your brush. Make a circular motion.
- 2). Add 1 cup of your non-ionic spray to the bucket of water, and mix your solution with your brush. Saturate your brush in the solution again, and move down to the lower portion of the stone marker, scrubbing softly. Work your way to the sides and back of the stone marker. Repeat these steps two more times. This will take time and patience.
- 3). Rinse the stone marker with pure water several times, and wipe down the stone marker with an old towel or cloth. This will remove any final remnants of grime as well as remove any lingering smell of bleach. Clip any weeds that have grown around the gravestone and dispose. Replace any decorations, flowers or pictures that you originally removed.
