How to Include Your Stepfamily & Siblings in Your Family History Charts
- 1). Write down your first and last name in the center of the paper. You will be the center of your family tree. Include the date and location of your birth under your name. If you choose, you can use a family tree template. Templates are available online at Uftree.com.
- 2). Next add your parents' information. Your parents will be located above you, your father on the left and your mother on the right. Add their marriage date and location. If you parents are divorced, include that information underneath. If one of your parents has passed away, include the date of death and place of burial. Draw lines similar to goalposts to connect you and your parents. If they have remarried, draw a line on the other side of your parent, and add your stepmother or stepfather's date of birth, location of birth and when they married your mother or father.
- 3). Add step-siblings if any. To include your step-siblings, you draw lines from your parent and your stepparent to that child. Since you are not blood related, do not draw a line connecting you to your step-sibling.
