Instructions

1

Start Access and open the form to which you wish to add a subform. Ensure that you are in Design view by clicking on the "View" menu item and selecting the line labeled "Design view." This view will allow you to create and modify database objects.
2

Activate the Control Wizards toolbox. Click on the Toolbox icon in the Form Design toolbar to display the toolbar options. Activate the Control Wizards tool if it is inactive by pressing it.
3

Click on the Subform/Subreport tool in the toolbar options. Notice that the mouse cursor changes to indicate that you are now in the add form mode.
4

Place the subform by left-clicking anywhere in the form. This will start the SubForm Wizard.
5

Follow the directions in the SubForm wizard. Choose an existing table or form as your data source. The existing form option will not be available if you have not defined one. On the next page of the wizard, select the specific data source and the available fields from that data source. Name your subform and mark the checkbox if you would like to display help while working on subforms.
6

Click on the "Finish" button to complete the SubForm wizard.
